STEDFAST BRASS presents the
LOYAL VARIETY CONCERT 2018
With JAZZAMATAZZ CHOIR and the RED & BLACK JAZZ BAND
Stedfast Brass are a community focused band playing a wide range of musical styles, with the main aim of the band being to enjoy what we play and to support and encourage each other to improve our playing. Our play outs are many and varied during the year, ranging from our annual loyal variety concert to Summertimes outdoor concerts, school fairs, garden parties, carol services and church services.
Jazzamatazz Jazz Choir is led by Mary Ruston and backed by the great musical talent of Jonathan Petty on keys. Bringing you very eclectic song choices and vocal arrangements that will make this concert a stand out. The choir voices blend and weave through the magical arrangements written by Mary, coloured by the piano, upright bass and drums, offering you diversity, dynamic sounds from a choir who loves performing for the audience.
The original Red and Black Jazz Band was formed in the 1980’s when the Canterbury Rugby team were masters of the Ranfurly Shield - a band was needed to entertain the crowd before the match and during the half time - They had to be mobile and not be plugged in as they played just out of “can throwing range”. The wee group has now reformed with Kim Blackmore on Trombone, Jim Cowlishaw on Soprano Sax, Ross MacDonald on Banjo and Colin Eaton on Sousaphone.
