Weekly Round Up: Friday 7th August

Friday 7th August, 2015 2:37PM

There were no big international tour announcements this week, but we had some excellent local tour news. In one heck of a double-billing, post rock trio Jakob are joining forces with sludge metal masters Beastwars for a four-date joint tour in October. The Phoenix Foundation announced an eight-show nationwide jaunt for September to support the release of their new album Give Up Your Dreams. Anthonie Tonnon is taking his Successor vinyl release tour to the South Island for two performances at the end of the month. Wellington folk outfit Eb & Sparrow announced an extensive tour of the country to support the release of their new album Sun/Son. And globally-divided dream pop act Yumi Zouma revealed dates for three shows on home soil for September.

In release news, Cheats has let loose his excellent four-track EP titled Monday Reeks, which is available on Bandcamp for free download. Wellington-based weirdo rocker Double Ya D has shared a track off his forthcoming debut album The Right Man For The Wrong Job, coming out through local lo-fi label Stink Magnetic Record Co. Jonathan Bree unveiled a new tune called 'Once It Was Nice', along with a simple one-shot video of the carousel on Brighton Beach, as he revealed details of his upcoming sophomore album A Little Night Music. And in "unusual collaboration news", the three-way team up of Mike Patton, TV On The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe and rapper doseone have unveiled the first single under their Nevermen project.

This week's Caught Live is Metallica delivering their classic cut 'Enter The Sandman' surrounded by fans at Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago this week...
