Weekly Round Up: Friday 2nd October

Friday 2nd October, 2015 12:41PM

While things were pretty quiet on the international tour news front this week, there were some great local tours announced. Dream folk outfit French For Rabbits is teaming up with multi-instrumentalist Grayson Gilmour for a four date mini-tour in November. Auckland haunted-core outfit the moonlight have lined up four shows around the country to support the release of their upcoming debut album. And the formidable live duo of Hopetoun Brown are hitting the road for an extensive run of dates to celebrate the release of their record Burning Fuse due out next week. And in festival news, the organisers of Splore revealed the first lot of international artists for the 2016 event, adding Waxahatchee, The Reverend Peyton and His Big Damned Band, Dub Pistols, Tkay Maidza, Jordan Rake and DJ Sarah Love to the bill.

In release news, Wellington-based electronic act Groeni unveiled their new EP Hinde, which is the first release since expanding from a solo project to a three-piece. Up-and-coming West Auckland group Meridian Vibe premiered a great wrestling-themed video created by the folk at Candlelit Pictures for their debut single 'Crash & Burn'. And The Chills shared a new single from their forthcoming album Silver Bullets, which is out at the end of October and is the first full-length record from the seminal group in nearly 20 years. Looking further abroad, we were stoked to hear that 90s shoegaze group Lush are reuniting for their first show in nearly 20 years - and worldwide dates are on the cards.

This week's Caught Live is Marlon Williams and The Yarra Benders delivering a fantastic rendition of Screamin' Jay Hawkins song 'Portrait of a Man' at Theatre Royal in Christchurch...
