Weekly Round Up: Friday 11th December

Friday 11th December, 2015 3:53PM

In tour news this week soul star D'Angelo announced one special show for Wellington in March as part of the NZ Festival. Three dates were revealed for prolific lo-fi pop musician Dan Melchior to perform across New Zealand in February, with support from sonic adventurer Kraus. Swedish hardcore outfit Refused have lined up two slots on these shores in the new year. Netherland three-piece My Baby are returning this way for an extensive tour over summer. Texan heavy metal outfit The Sword are coming with their hometown buddies American Sharks as well as Melbourne outfit Clowns for a pair of February shows. That same month will see Radio Moscow and Kings Destroy to deliver a dose of psych and doom to the country. And in the we-are-hopeful column, there is a possibility that the legendary Wu-Tang Clan might be heading this way in the near future. Fingers crossed!!

In release news, some fantastic stuff came out of the woodwork this week. In terms of singles, we heard the beautifully melancholy new tune from Fazerdaze's upcoming debut album. Auckland's Scuba Diva shared his "underwater funk" song 'Marimba', which was co-produced by Kody Nielson. And the recently re-named trio How Get unveiled their awesome single 'Tanned Christ', which they will be celebrating with a party at Flying Out tonight. And we shared the closing track 'Sick Sick Sick' lifted from the new EP courtesy of Christchurch crew Brian Tamaki And The Kool Aid Kids. Some great album streams also popped up this week with Coolies sharing their brand new album Kaka (produced by Pumice) along with a cool video series. Teen producer Roidz let loose his debut album S-E-L-F-E-S-T-E-E-M, which is likely to appeal to fans of P.H.F. And Totems dropped his new full-length record Elixir. All must-hear offerings for your weekend!!

This week's Caught Live is a top notch clip of sonic innovator Pumice performing 'Trophy' at his home, which was shot by our pal Zac Arnold over at Radio New Zealand's Music 101. Definitely take a peep...
