Wildbirds and Peacedrums Headed to Auckland This Month with Fire!

Acclaimed duo Wildbirds and Peacedrums are headed to Auckland later this month along with psychedelic/free jazz group Fire!.

The two Swedish acts will perform at a series of events put on by the Audio Foundation appropriately dubbed the Fire! Festival. The festival will take place over three nights and will see Fire! - saxophonist Mats Gustafsson,  Johan Berthling, Andreas Werliin and Miriam Wallentin as a special guest - headline the first two nights. The final night will then see husband and wife Andreas Werliin and Miriam Wallentin perform as Wildbirds and Peacedrums. Each night will also host additional international and local acts including Swiss experimental duo Hans Koch and Thomas Peter, Shab Orchestra, Jane Austin and more.

The festival will then lead into the annual Bush Tucka event which will also feature many of the acts performing at the Fire! Festival but in a more improvised manner. Here are the details!

The Audio Foundation, Feeding Habits and Bush Tucka present a one-off festival of extraordinary music featuring performers from Sweden, Switzerland, New York and New Zealand.

Highlights include Swedish psychedelic/free jazz unit Fire! featuring titan of saxophone Mats Gustafsson and Swedish alt-pop star Mariam Wallentin, Wildbirds and Peacedrums – a Swedish duo who have worked with Bjork, Ben Frost, Deerhoof and Hildur Gudnadottir, Swiss experimental duo Hans Koch and Thomas Peter and New York based composer, singer- songwriter Leila Adu…plus a raftload of great local acts.
