Weekly Round Up: Friday 15th January

Weekly Round Up: Friday 15th January

Friday 15th January, 2016 1:34PM

It was our first week back full-time from summer holidays and it was a busy one, with loads of tour announcements rolling in. Local electro-pop outfit Paquin announced a series of dates around the country over the coming weeks for their EP release tour. Next month will see METZ delivering a Laneway sideshow at Auckland dive venue Whammy Bar.  That same month will see Belgium-based producer LeFtO is winging his way over for two dates. And Aussie act Ted Danson With Wolves are jumping the ditch for a whole raft of shows. Then in March, the incredible Aldous Harding is heading home for a string of performances around the country. We were also stoked to announced U.S. Girls aka Meghan Remy is coming to Auckland for one show in March. Also in early in the month, punk act GBH are returning downunder for a handful of shows. And then at the end of the month, Strung Out will be heading over for two performances. And in festival news, the organisers of Auckland City Limits revealed 10 more acts to be added to the bill for the inaugural event - including Modest Mouse, Kamasi Washington and Fat Freddy's Drop.

Of course, the big news this week was the sad death of music icon David Bowie, so instead of our regular Caught Live feature, here are a few clips from times when Bowie touched the hearts of New Zealand...

Here's a look back at the 1983 record-breaking Serious Moonlight tour at Western Springs...

And here is a great video about Bowie visiting a Porirua marae and writing a waiata for his visit...

And you can also head over here and watch Bowie being interviewed by Brent Hansen on Radio With Pictures back in 1982, or over hear to see Bowie chatting with Susan Wood on the Holmes show in 2004. RIP David Bowie.
