Video: Glass Vaults - Life Is The Show

Friday 8th April, 2016 9:43AM

Glass Vaults have shared an incredibly powerful new video for their single 'Life Is The Show', lifted from their debut album Sojourn. Conceived and directed by Ben Bro (Benny's Videos) and produced by the band, the striking video highlights some important issues of growing up gay in suburban New Zealand. Bro says he was inspired by a "dark and beautiful dream", but has also woven some of his own experiences into the clip.

"Homophobia was rampant at my high school. The stigma, the constant ridicule, the social alienation, the chance to lose all your friends and family, the daily threats of violence,” he explained in an interview. "The video can be viewed as an attempt to raise awareness about suicide, in particular youth suicide in New Zealand. In high school, I would often day dream of jumping from the balcony of the school gymnasium or slitting my wrists with my mathematics compass." Take a look below...

Glass Vaults are playing with Boycrush at The Wine Cellar in Auckland on April 23rd, head over here for more information and to buy tickets>
