Weekly Round Up: Friday 28th October

Friday 28th October, 2016 4:54PM

Of course this week's big tour news was the sudden announcement that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are returning to New Zealand in January for two shows as part of an extensive tour off-the-back of releasing their new album Skeleton Tree. In other tour news, Brooklyn-based outfit Lake Street Dive revealed the date for one Auckland appearance in the new year to support their fifth album, Side Pony. And the organisers for Splore announced the final line-up for the 2017 event, adding Skye and Ross (of Morcheeba), Lady Leshurr, Beardyman, Blackalicious and more to the already hefty bill.

In local release news, we were real happy to get our hands on a new EP from solo artist Roy Irwin, which came out-of-the-blue while he works on the follow up album to S.O.D.A. We also had the privilege of premiering the debut single from Auckland post-hardcore outfit Human Resource as they get ready to release a EP in the new year. From further abroad, Sacramento hardcore crew Trash Talk dropped their new EP, Tangled, and made it available for free download. The controversial Pussy Riot collective emerged with amazing new cut 'Straight Outta Vagina' which came hand-in-hand with a top notch video. We heard some new material from The Brian Jonestown Massacre as they readied to release new studio album Third World Pyramid today. And to top it off A Tribe Called Quest announced they will be releasing their first album in nearly two decades!!

This week's Caught Live is Run The Jewels getting raucous for Halloween on Stephen Colbert’s late show...
