PRESS RELEASE:

Formed in 2007, Pouffe is a Free Pop two-piece featuring Matt Plunkett (The Trendees, Poison Arrow) on vocals and Pat Kraus (Kraus, The Futurians) on guitar. In the tradition of scummily-recorded NZ underground pop music (eg. Tall Dwarfs, Pumice), their music is a chaotic blend of blown-out punk rock, incoherent keyboards, primitive drum-machines, and poetry about hair, dreams about dogs, and driving around in a mall carpark.

As with his work in the Trendees, Plunkett’s lyrics reveal the challenges of being a weirdo in a small town, drawing on overheard op-shop conversations and paranoid thoughts about the neighbours.

Pouffe have released two albums: “MALLL” (2011), and the kaleidoscopic lo-fi masterpiece “We Live in the Mind” (2012). Their new EP “I Am Lost at Home”, and the euphoric/bummer Christmas single “Everything’s Coming Up Christmas (But You’re Not Here)” (recorded at midnight last Christmas Eve) are available now.
