Video: Le1f - Umami/Water

Idiosyncratic rapper Le1f has unveiled a video for double banger track 'Umami/Water' from the 2015 record Riot Boy. The video begins with Umami, a savoury taste, which shows Le1f and his entourage in a high-energy, sweat inducing dance routine which is reflective of the boogie-inspiring tune. Half way through, the tempo drops and the synth voicing become more liquid in nature. Le1f is transported to a rocky outcrop by the sea and transformed into a veiled grey entity which is somewhere between a dreadlocked Arial from The Little Mermaid and a Dugong.

“Sending positive vibes to all women and feminines, brown folks of all genders, to our health, sanity, and all fresh water”, said Le1f of the video on Facebook, before cryptically adding: “It’s my first time directing and it’s my last music video as Le1f”.
