Premiere: French Concession Unveils Self-Animated Video For 'Starlight & Disasters'

Christchurch-based dream pop artist French_Concession is unveiling a new video for 'Starlight & Disasters', a track lifted from the 2015 EP Eurphoros. As with her video for 'At Knifepoint' released late last year, the new offering is a self-directed affair but this time around the artist delves deeper into 3D animation and the celestial world. Talking to UTR, frontwoman Ella Chau Yin Chi shed some light on the project:

“The concept for the video clip came as I was producing the track for the Euphoros EP, so I have always thought the track is not complete without the video. In making this video, I have been experimenting with 3D animation and a surreal space theme.

The scene in the video is set some time in the future, where a trash collection station called 'Starlight' circulates around earth collecting pieces of old spacecraft parts from previous accidents. The station broadcasts the phrase: '星之光,沒方向。天之災,沒對錯。' which means 'The light of the stars does not shine merely in one direction; disasters from above have no intentions', which is also the lyrics of the song.”
