Weekly Round Up: Friday 12th May

Friday 12th May, 2017 3:00PM

In tour news this week, British singer-songwriter Beth Orton announced she will be coming to New Zealand for three shows in June. That same month will also see Compton rapper YG hitting up Auckland for one performance. And there was quite a raft of announcements from the other side of the Tasman, with Sydney duo Polish Club announcing two shows to celebrate their record Alright Already. Wollogong fuzz rockers The Pinheads revealed the dates for three North Island shows for July. Ambient electro artist Vancouver Sleep Clinic will be crossing the ditch for one Auckland appearance also in July. And Melbourne experimental act The Convoy will be winging their way over for a handful of shows in early June.

In release highlights, The National announced a new record is on the way and gave us a taste with lead single 'The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness'. Japanese trio Boris also revealed plans for a new album and let loose the crushing cut 'Absolutego'. Auckland noise-rock foursome Invisible Threads shared new track 'Isle Of The Dead' along with a soaring video courtesy of Ducklingmonster. Industrial shoegaze duo Mellow Grave emerged with their amazing new tune 'Eyesore' signalling they may be inching closer to releasing their EP. Onehunga crew SWIDT brought forth some more excellence with their new track 'Close One' featuring Cali rapper CJ Fly. And Juiceroof let loose his new album, This Is Not Real Life And Your A Dreamer.
