Toronto-based noisy post-punks METZ have dropped their third album Strange Peace upon the world. The 11-track output was recorded by engineer extraordinaire Steve Albini, who helmed the faders for Nirvana’s In Utero, Neurosis’ Times Of Grace and Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Yanqui U.X.O, to name just a few. The opus is interspersed with interesting and unexpected melodies, such as the boisterous, sub-one-minute fury of ‘Escalator Teeth’ and the raucous feedback and distorted bass line of ‘Mr Plague’. Guitarist/vocalist Alex Edkins explained some of the lyrical inspiration behind the latest offering...

"The songs on Strange Peace are about uncertainty, they're about recognising that we're not always in control of our own fate, and about admitting our mistakes and fears. They're about finding some semblance of peace within the chaos."

And as an added bonus, the three-piece have also shared a surreal video for 'Cellophane'. The clip was directed by Shayne Ehman with assistance from Cricket Cave production house. Check it out below...

Strange Peace is out now on Sub Pop.
