Auckland's Human Resource Share New EP 'PCBU'

Monday 9th October, 2017 9:58AM

Anarchic noise quartet Human Resource have shared a fresh EP titled PCBU, an acronym which stands for ‘person conducting business or an undertaking’, a broad term used to describe various incarnations of businesses. The eponymous track features vocalist Tali Williams sarcastically reciting a slew of empty corporate catch phrases such as “people love novelty/ we’re ahead of the pack”. The three-track release features similarly intriguing effect-laden guitars as their debut 12" record, which are complemented by a step up in aggression in drum sound. The group gave a glimpse into some of the themes of the release in a statement:

“[PCBU is] comprised of songs about living under a system that inflicts economic pain on the majority for the benefit of a minority. PCBU is dedicated to the memory of talented Auckland artist Kit Taylor who left this world too soon. We remember Kit on the dance floor; in the front row at every show. Capitalism causes immense suffering to so many and also keeps us isolated from each other. This often takes a huge toll on people’s mental health. We have to have each other’s backs."

The EP is available through the “name your price” scheme on Bandcamp. Soak it up below…
