Weekly Round Up: Friday 10th November

Friday 10th November, 2017 5:02PM

Its been a thrill ride of a week, with a generous amount of tour announcements and releases coming down the pipeline. Exciting tour news included Japanese OG Black Metallers Sabbat announcing two North Island shows, and Splore Festival 2018 sharing their second lineup including UK neo soul artist Omar, US disco producer John Morales amongst a slew of local talent. Hard-hitting Wellingtonians The All Seeing Hand announced a nationwide tour on the back of their recent visit to China, and Marlon Williams unveiled dates for his upcoming 2018 tour before heading out around the country for this week’s run of sold out shows.

There’s been some excellent local sounds coming through, with Wellington sound artist Flo Wilson releasing her debut EP, Wellington newcomer Erith sharing her brooding sophomore single, Auckland indie-rock supergroup Water dropping their catchy new album, and Polyester unveiling their very catchy tune ‘Different for A Boy’. Elroy Finn snuck out a beautiful debut track, newcomer Fletcher Valentine shared his catchy album of sizzling indie pop, and Roy Irwin premiered his latest killer collection of rockin' tunes. It’s been a great week for local electronic beats, with Auckland producer Jaded Nineties Raver sharing a moody debut track, techno artist Fly Nights releasing his debut collection via NZ techno label MARGINS, and Career Girls dropping two deep cuts of subterranean club sounds.

We were stoked to share an interview with Future Islands’ singer Samuel T. Herring and were thrilled by photographer Michael Pharaoh’s snaps of Drake's Auckland concert. Likewise, we all took a moment to take in William Shatner’s unforgettable rendition of ‘Garbageman’ by The Cramps.

Our Caught Live video for this week features Brooklyn artist Sharon Van Etten who last visited our shores back in 2015. Here's the artist performing a stunning live version of ’Keep’ from her forthcoming album ‘(it was) because i was in love’ (a remaster of her debut record) which will be dropping next Friday…
