Legendary venue The Kings Arms is shutting up shop next week after many years of supporting Auckland's live musical culture. It was only appropriate garage rock trailblazers The D4 hit the stage for one last time, the bar had been pivotal in launching the band's balls-to-the-wall sound to a wider audience, and hosted infamous moments such as when the venue's PA caught fire during the band's set and they kept playing! There were no reports of exploding gear this time around, just great times as the gang ripped through their trademark tunes to a jam-packed, hugely appreciative crowd, alongside local purveyors of psyched-out riffage Echo Ohs and riotous punk dynamos Miss June.
