Premiere: Death And The Maiden Share Single 'Oooh Baby In The Chorus'

Wednesday 11th April, 2018 11:51AM

Dunedin trio Death And The Maiden (Lucinda King, Hope Robertson and Danny Brady) have unveiled 'Oooh Baby in the Chorus', the hypnotic lead single from their upcoming second album Wisteria. Following on from the band's accomplished 2015 self-titled debut record, the new song draws listeners deep into a dreamlike sonic universe of pulsing electronics, reverb-drenched guitars and haunting vocals. Wisteria promises to "celebrate the excruciating beauty and crushing weight of everyday life" and will be out in late April, with preorders available now via Fishrider Records. We caught up with the group's synthesiser wizard Danny Brady (also of Elan Vital and Thought Creature) who talked about the genesis of Death And The Maiden's latest collection...

"This album has been brewing for nearly a couple of year's now, so it's so nice to be able to hold a physical copy in our hands and share it with the world. We recorded it all live in a clothing factory in an industrial valley of Dunedin, it was sitting on the back burner for a bit but then Bevan Smith came along to help breath some new life into it. There's plans for a national tour once Hope has come back from finding her ancestry."

Vinyl and compact disc copies of 'Wisteria' are available for preorder now via Fishrider Records (shipping immediately), the album will be out in New Zealand on Friday 27th April / UK & Europe on Friday 11th May.
