Mac DeMarco Launches New Band Met Gala + Shares Two Tunes
Canadian indie icon and recent visitor Mac DeMarco launched a new band called Met Gala on the same day as the glitzy NYC event of the same name yesterday, and unveiled two tunes from the group's Red Carpet 7", which were allegedly "recorded earlier today on the red carpet at the Met Gala." The eight piece band features DeMarco, Alec Meen and Peter Sagar (of Homeshake), Colin Caulfield (of DIIV) and more, while the tracks on offer embrace twinkling funk grooves and impassioned auto-tuned vocals - the level of tongue-in-cheeky-ness involved is unclear but there's evident love of the source material in action.
