Auckland's SL + Nilfisk Share Soundscape 'Live In A Lava Cave'

Wednesday 13th June, 2018 1:19PM

Prolific New Zealand experimental imprint mf/mp (run by Sam Longmore and Karl Leisky) have shared Live in a Lava Cave, a collaborative release from SL (Longmore's nom de plume) and Nilfisk (James Sullivan, formerly of Salad Boys and Executive Zone) recorded as the name suggests inside an Auckland lava cave as part of the Audio Foundation's Speleosonics event in March. Spanning nearly nineteen minutes, the track dives deep into an evocative sound world of languid drones and indecipherable murmurs, just the thing for winter-fogged minds to lose themselves inside.

Live in a Lava Cave is part of the latest drop of releases from mf/mp, who have also unveiled a cassette edition of Auckland sound artist Flo Wilson's recent (Please) Keep Breathing EP and a collection of works from Giles Thacker, the new recording project of Dunedin sound explorer Karl Leisky fka Fuckault, including a bonus EP of unreleased Fuckault material. mf/mp are celebrating with a release party at Auckland's Strange Haven tonight featuring SL, "tripartite laptop ensemble" 3 Chocolatiers, Eeling and File Folder DJs. You can listen to all three collections below...
