Spotify Launches In New Zealand

Spotify Launches In New Zealand

Tuesday 22nd May, 2012 9:57AM

Music streaming subscription service Spotify is available in New Zealand as of today. Basically you can download the service and listen to a millions of tracks free with advertising or pay a monthly fee and get unlimited ad-free access. Arguably the dominant service in the field others like Rdio and local site Mixtape.co.nz have been floating around for the past few months but have yet to launch officially.

Specific features for New Zealand subscribers include a NZ Top 40 playlist and a Kia Ora New Zealand playlist which we assume is just New Zealand music.

It's hard to know what to think about these services, controversy over royalties to artists and labels is on going with artists such as The Black Keys and Coldplay refusing to license their latest albums to any stream services.

What do you think? Are you excited to check out Spotify?
