Weekly Roundup: Friday 31st August

Friday 31st August, 2012 11:09AM

Big news this week, for us anyway, was the launch of our new site design and we've received a heap of great feedback (thanks!). Grimes' Auckland show announced last week sold out early this week with no word yet of a venue change or second show. Her Wellington show is also very close to selling out, click here to snap up the last of those tickets. Swedish pop-star Robyn also  announced an Auckland show last week which sold out this week but a second show is likely.

Last night we announced the return of Shocking Pinks, who are releasing a new EP called Guilt Mirrors  and will play a one-off Auckland show next Friday (7th September) at Cassette Nine's Mum club night.  Auckland band The Checks announced yesterday that they are calling it quits after ten years together. Laneway Festival have posted their first 2013 lineup hint, with Japandroids the hot tip.  Our favourite hair-metallers Razowyre (formerly Gaywyre) have announced the release of their debut album Another Dimension with a Wellington release show supported by Beastwars who are currently working on their second album.

Ghost Wave
are off to the US in October to play CMJ and to support the release of their debut EP over there. They will play the first in a series of fundraiser shows tomorrow night at the Snake Pit in Auckland with Popstrangers who we hear have signed to an international label for the release of their highly anticipated debut album.  Wellington pysch-rock duo The Shocking and Stunning announced the release of a new EP  and tour yesterday premiering the first single on UTR. And last but not least, Auckland alt-country event The Gunslinger's Ball is hitting the road for a North Island tour in October.
