Weekly Roundup: 28th September 2012

Friday 28th September, 2012 10:39AM

As expected the summer tour season just go a whole lot hotter with the announcement of Laneway Festival's 2013 lineup which sees Bat For Lashes head our way for the first time and seminal sonic rockers Bailterspace will take to the stage in NZ for the first time since the Big Day Out in 96 - see here for the full lineup. Other tours announced this week include notorious 60s rock n roll band The Pretty Things returning to New Zealand 47 years after being kicked out of the country, Blondie returns in November with The Stranglers, 90s RnB hitmakers Boyz II Men are touring extensively in December, Grammy winning artists The Civil Wars and Emmylou Harris each have announced New Zealand tours, Amanda Palmer is returning in January and our very one The Bats are playing two North Island shows in November.

Promoters of Grimes' two upcoming sold out shows have put double passes to each show up for auction via Tradme with proceeds going to Kids Can, a charity that helps disadvantaged kids - so if you missed here is your last chance  - click here to bid on Auckland and here to bid on Wellington.

Three iconic Auckland venues have signaled an end of a era with Khuja Lounge closing this weekend, The Dogs Bollix is up for lease and K'rd bar D.O.C is up for sale.  The Dogs Bollix was a thriving venue in the early-mid 2000s even hosting a very special performance by PJ Harvey which we luckily got to witness. Khuja too was probably at it's peak during this time, lets hope some new blood can get these venues back to their prime.
