One Member Of Pussy Riot Freed

Thursday 11th October, 2012 2:20PM

Yekaterina Samutesevich, one of the three members of Pussy Riot jailed earlier this year has had her jail term suspended in the appeals process. Her appeal was upheld because, according to the BBC, she was removed from the cathedral by guards before the "punk prayer" took place. The other two jailed members, Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova remain in prison but their appeal process is to continue.

The three members were jailed in July for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred", after they staged a protest concert in a cathedral on February 21st this year. The case continues to draw international attention to Putin's authoritarianism.
