Weekly Round-Up: Friday 26th October

Friday 26th October, 2012 12:52PM

Godspeed You! Black Emperor topped the tour announces this week, and this year many would no doubt argue, announced to play Auckland and Wellington in February on the back of ATP Festival I'll Be Your Mirror Melbourne. Another popular announce this week, from an entirely different musical realm, was the confirmation of Kendrick Lamar's Auckland show which will take place in December.  Other international announces included Lauryn Hill to headline Ragamuffin Festival next year alongside Gappy Ranks and many more, Elvis Costello returns as part of the A Day On The Green winery tour series, Keith Fullerton Whitman was announced as the final Altmusic touring artist for 2012, UK club/electro label Eglo Records will be showcasing artists in Auckland next month and Australian acts Deep Sea Arcade and Jordie Lane each announced shows in December.

A bunch of local tours also got announced this week including The Datsuns who will come together from their various locals for two shows in December to celebrate the release of their new album Death Rattle Boogie, Dunedin indie-pop acts Two Cartoons and Males are taking on the country next month and leading country acts Delaney Davidson and Marlon Williams of The Unfaithful Ways are touring their collaborative album Sad But True... nationwide throughout the coming months.

Controversy/music crime of the week goest to US television network CBS who announced plans to air a new show called Smells Like Teen Spirit. Named of course after Nirvana's hit single, the show from the writers/producers of The Big Bang Theory will focus on two teenage kids and their grunge era parents. We can only hope that Courtney Love goes all Courtney Love on their ass and stops this travesty from going any further.
