Press Release:

This week, because you have been behaving so well, you are allowed to open 2 of the metaphorical cardboard squares on our Laneway Advent Calendar – each revealing another artist added to St Jerome’s Laneway Festival lineup for 2013…

These 2 cardboard squares represent the forward thinking and exciting new acts that we have been hearing lots about – and cant wait to bring them to NZ for their first time.

FLUME and POLICA will join Bat for Lashes, Bailterspace, Yeasayer, Real Estate Of Monsters And Men, Alt-J, Nicolas Jaar, Divine Fits, Jessie Ware, The Phoenix Foundation, Lawrence Arabia, A Place to Bury Strangers, Japandroids, Street Chant, The Men, Cloud Nothings, Kings of Convenience, Phelps and Munro, Polica, Deer Park, Beach Pigs and Real Estate on the bill for LANEWAY FESTIVAL on Auckland Anniversary Day - 28th Jan 2013.

FLUME
New York Times are saying he is an artist to watch and many are saying this is the biggest thing Australian dance music has ever seen. Harley Streten aka FLUME has had an impressive rise for the 21-year-old beatmaker and production whiz that played his first show just one year ago. Since then, he has built up a huge fanbase by releasing a succession of assured singles ('Sleepless', 'Holdin On') and accomplished remixes (most notably Hermitude's 'Hyperparadise') and some stand-out appearances at Splendour In The Grass. His debut album positioned itself at #2 of the ARIA Charts in its first week of release – and made its self in the Top 40 in NZ too.

POLICA
Minnesota’s POLICA know how to make Auto-tune sound truly soulful. Founded in 2011 by singer Channy Leaneagh, and Ryan Olson (Gayngs), Polica immediately won over hearts everywhere, thanks to the band’s dense-yet-tender electronic fields, distorted bass and austere vocals. On tracks like ‘Lay Your Cards Out’ (feat. Mike Noyce)’, Polica (Polish for ‘policy’) make the kind of moody music that seeps into your blood: rich and warm. Polica's debut album is out now.

We love these two International artists, and predict big things for them– we hope you will too…
