Weekly Round-Up: Friday 25th January

Weekly Round-Up: Friday 25th January

Friday 25th January, 2013 12:34PM

Laneway Festival is now only DAYS away, the timetable + site map is out and we have interviews with a heap of the artists performing including  The Men, A Place To Bury Strangers (who also play a Wellington sideshow this Sunday) and Phelps & Munro all posted just this week.

Your wallet can breath a sigh of relief this week with only a couple of tours announced including Paul Kelly who returns to play a couple of shows in March, Delaney Davidson, Marlon Williams and Tami Neilson announced an old fashioned country music show taking place nationwide also in March and Bailterspace  announced a Wellington show on the back of Laneway and confirmed rumours that they will be joined live by original bassist John Halvorsen.

In album release news: while everyone fussed over whether Beyonce lip synched the US national anthem this week, a truly noteworthy hoax was taking place - Vampire Weekend have a new album out in May via XL and eager media were caught out this week by some hilarious person who created a fake promo site for the as yet untitled album giving it the name 'Lemon Sounds', some artwork and even a tracklist including track names like 'Obvious Bicycle' and 'Wild Thyme'  - lol!

In legit release news: Depeche Mode have released more details about their new record out in March including the title - Delta Machine - and artwork, Bella Union have announced the release of a new The Flaming Lips record in April titled The Terror, The Black Angels announced the release of new album Indigo Meadow along with the first single,  local band Girls Pissing on Girls Pissing featuring members of Sharpie Crows announced the release of their second album Eeling out on Muzai Records next month and streaming this week is UMO's much anticipated funky new album II, the new album from Ducktails (aka Matt Mondanile from Real Estates solo project) is up on Pitchfork as is the new one from promising garage rockers Bleeding Rainbow - Yeah Right.
