Weekly Round-Up: Friday 22nd February

Weekly Round-Up: Friday 22nd February

Friday 22nd February, 2013 10:28AM

This week the music world has been consumed with music videos: the good, the bad and the totally weird. Bat for Lashes released a Michel Gondry-esque clip for single 'Lilies' from The Haunted Man and Thom Yorke's supergroup, Atoms for Peace, dropped a compilation of live video footage for single 'Judge, Jury and Executioner' from their album AMOK, which is currently available to stream in its entirety. Brooklyn jangly post-punkers DIIV released an aesthetically questionable video in which a bunch of half-naked young adults, including Sky Ferreira, run around doing absolutely nothing (which is nothing we haven't seen before but you really have to check this one out to believe it), while Beck being Beck went and released a 360-degree interactive clip for his cover of David Bowie's 'Sound and Vision', complete with the 167+ musicians he recruited for the track, and a 'black-hole' viewing option, just casually.

Okkervil River have released their beautiful (read: depressing-as-hell) cover of Tim Hardin's 'It'll Never Happen Again' from the Tim Hardin tribute album Reason to Believe on which the likes of Mark Lanegan and our own Phoenix Foundation appear, Chicks on Speed dropped the first single from their forthcoming album Scream (they're in New Zealand next week), and Primal Scream dropped a single (and very fashun video) called '2013' that features Kevin Shields from my bloody valentine (who is better here than he was live at All Tomorrow's Parties last weekend). Local band Caroles released their EP this week and you can listen to single 'Over Head', here.

In superfluous internet news, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will apparently release the first single from forthcoming album Mosquito on Monday, after dropping two teasers and the album artwork. Jack White has - surprise! - gone and done something whacky with vinyl by inventing a Triple Decker Record that hides a 7" inside a 12", while M.I.A thinks the Grammys ripped of her set design and plans to create an 'Stealog' so you can be the judge of the proclaimed similarities.

That's it this week! Enjoy your weekend and make sure to go and see some live music, especially considering ALL OF THE BANDS are playing this weekend.
