Legendary Mancunians The Stone Roses played a one-off New Zealand show at Vector Arena last night. They rollicked through a set of all of their hits (which makes sense, considering their two album only back-catalogue) gradually building the crowd up with their excellent set-list and psychedelic visuals. Ian Brown wore a reflective silver three-stripe jacket and drummer Alan Wren a bucket hat, both of which were also great. Nigel Moore was there and caught the set on camera and you can check out his photos below.

Simply awesome; despite all the poms in the crowd. Just jokes - best experience ever; couldn't believe the quality of Ian Browns voice after all these years. Exceede all my expectations.

Well worth the 20-something year wait. Sound mix may not have been the best but frankly I didn't care. Agree the best but of Zane Lowe's set was "Voodoo Ray" afterwards. The only time I saw the crowd's "f*cking hands in the air" was when the crowd had had enough and wa encouraging him to "F*ck off".

Epic show. I saw the Roses at Brixton in 95 when they were without Reni. That was a good show but this was brilliant, he makes the most fantastic beats and rhythms. Loved the show!

Who cares about the support act, the Roses were superb.

My good lord, The Stone Roses were amazing.

My good lord, Zane Lowe was totally appalling.

The only bit of the warmup that was in any way appropriate was when a tape of 'Voodoo Ray' came on between Lowe finishing and The Roses coming on.

I feel like i got the genuine Roses experience and loved the bands performance, including the imperfections. The sound was a joke though - only for about 2 minutes during Somethings Burning did Manis bass actually get brought up enough in the mix to hear, and this was going from beside the mixing desk to about 10 meters in front. The drums were compressed out of tone, only the guitar had what sounded like full range. By friend next to me made the comment he was glad he doesnt know about sound as it sounded good to him...

Stone Roses were top notch. But on the down side, the opeing act DJ Zane was (1) Completely inappropriate for a Stone Roses crowd and (2) Really quite bad. His music was rubbish and his aggressive requests for everyone to put their hands in the air became quite comical. Just saying.

Reni did wear a bucket hat - put it on for Fools Gold and wore it from then on.

Reni didn't wear a bucket hat either, he had something that looked like ladies tights wrapped round his head! Quality show tho
