RIP Deftones Bassist Chi Cheng

Former Deftones bassist and founding member Chi Cheng passed away over the weekend aged 42. In 2008 Cheng was involved in a serious car accident and he never fully recovered having been in a coma then semi-conscious state ever since.
Cheng formed Deftones alongside Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, and Abe Cunningham in the late eighties and performed on their first five albums. They were working on what was supposed to be the bands sixth album Eros when Cheng's accident happened. These recordings where shelved in 2009 when the band moved onto Diamond Eyes, released in 2010, but are tipped to surface at some stage.
