With Spring just around the corner, the summer tour schedule continues to fill out with The National announced on Monday to be playing Auckland in February, La De Da New Years festival made their first lineup announcement with Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky headlining, a trio of 70s rock groups - Lynyrd Skynrd, Starship and 10cc -  tour New Zealand in February, Steve Earle returns in April with band The Dukes for two dates, pop-rock band Paramore will play Auckland and Christchurch in January and Australian bogan festival Soundwave made their first 2014 lineup announcement late last Friday including: Green Day, Megadeth, Stone Temple Pilots, Korn, Clutch, Baroness, Trash Talk and HEAPS more.

Back to the month ahead though and some great local shows have just been announced including a one-off headline show from Solid Gold Hell at the Kings Arms (we have an awesome feature on them coming up next week),  another Flying Nun favourite, the 3Ds' David Saunders is heading out on tour next month backed by Auckland trio Street Chant and Auckland band Trust Punks tour nationwide from next Wednesday

To release news and the inimitable Steve Albini has told UK site the Quietus that a new Shellac album is on the way as well as 25th Anniversary reissue of Rapeman album Two Nuns and a Pack MuleThe Dead Weather, aka Jack White, Alison Mosshart and Dean Fertita, are working towards a possible new release, UK electro-pop artist Glasser has announced more details about her new album, called Interiors it is out in October, check out first single 'Shape' Sunken Seas have announced the release of a new EP next month (look out for a preview soon) via Muzai Records,  Auckland live favourites The Conjurors released a single from their new 12" EP Six Trials of Hercules, rock royalty Paul McCartney has released a new track from a mysterious new album to follow his absurdly titled Kisses On The Bottom from last year and just today, The Chills have announced the release of a new live album titled Somewhere Beautiful in October.

We've had some great special features again this week, including a stream of the new EP from Power Nap, aka Golden Axe's Chris Cudby,  the NZ exclusive preview of the new album from Neko Case + a really great interview with her, a  three track preview of the new album from Dunedin band Dinosaur Sanctuary which is out next week and we premiered the last of the tracks from HDSPNS new EP VIVIDISM, out next week also, along with their first ever music video.

Caught live this week we have another cover, this time from Kurt Vile who covered Nine Inch Nails track '1989' recently for the AV Club...
