Weekly Round-Up: Friday 11th October

It was all go yesterday morning on the tour front with Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails officially announcing their double headline tour of New Zealand and Australia,  set to play Auckland and Christchurch in March. Crazy Japanese rockers Guitar Wolf announced their return for dates nationwide in December, Beastwars announced the final tour of their sophomore album Blood Becomes Fire (also announced yesterday to be a finalist again for best Best Album Cover for Nick Keller's artwork in the NZ Music Award Technical Award categories) and finally, a majority of  A Low Hum's new Square Wave Music Festival shows went on sale with a full program of shows expected next week. 

But wait there's more, that was just yesterday, on Tuesday electronic musicians Phaeleh (UK) and Shigeto (US) were announced to be heading our way nex month for two double headline shows,  Auckland hardcore band Parents are touring nationwide in support of their debut album next month and Luckless will also head out on tour next month for dates nationwide.

On the release front, Yo La Tengo announced a new 7" release to feature a single called 'Super Kiwi' with an amazingly cute cover featuring our national symbol, The Bats also have a new 7" coming out featuring an outtake from their latest album Free All The Monsters,  Chicago metallers Russian Circles released a new single from their new album Memorial out later this month, Dunedin trio Trick Mammoth announced the release of their debut album via Fishrider Records and shared two singles,  Wellington electro-funk ensemble Orchestra of Spheres announced the release a new album via Sound Explorers/Fire Records and shared a new track,  Rackets released a new single from a forthcoming new album due out early next year, Warpaint released a teaser video for their forthcoming album Love is To Die created by legendary director Chris Cunningham,  Brian Degraw of Gang Gang Dance has announced a new album under the name bEEdEEgEE and shared the first single and Jesus and Mary Chain fans out there, you'd better start saving hard as an 11x LP Box Set  is coming your way December.

Caught live this week, well it was actually recorded last week, is a superb performance of 'Retrograde' by James Blake on Later With Jools Holland and should it leave you hankering for more, you're in luck because ol' James is heading back in January for Laneway Festival, oh yeah!
