Queens of The Stone Age + Nine Inch Nails Announce Wellington Show

Tuesday, 21st January 2014 7:59AM

Good news Wellington residents, Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails are heading your way in March. The double bill tour was announced last October, with the new Wellington date slotting in between the previously announced Auckland and Christchurch shows. Neither bands have been to Wellington in some time, if ever, with Queens of the Stone Age forced to cancel their last scheduled Wellington date in 2011 and Nine Inch Nails stopping over in Auckland only on their last visit in 2009.  A rare treat indeed, here are the tour details....

Queens of The Stone Age + Nine Inch Nails New Zealand Tour

Wednesday 19th March, Vector Arena, Auckland
Thursday 20th March, TSB Bank Arena, Wellington
Saturday 22nd March, CBS Canterbury Arena, Christchurch

Tickets for the new Wellington date will be available to Frontier members for 24 hours from 2pm Tuesday 28th Jan, with any remaining tickets going on general sale from 9am Thursday 30th January. See below for ticketing outlets.

Press Release:

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE & NINE INCH NAILS ANNOUNCE WELLINGTON CONCERT WITH SPECIAL GUEST BRODY DALLE

The Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to announce that due to popular demand two of the world’s most influential bands of the last decade, Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age, will join forces for a massive double headline tour this March that now includes a Wellington concert on Thursday 20th March!

Ticket sales to both the Auckland and Christchurch concerts have been very strong prompting the addition of a Wellington concert. Tickets to the Wellington concert at TSB Bank Arena will go on sale through Ticketek on Thursday 30th January at 9.00am.

Queens Of The Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails are no strangers to New Zealand shores having both previously performed in Auckland on various occasions. This will be both bands first performances in Wellington and Christchurch making it possible for fans all around New Zealand to attend a concert close to their home town.

Queens Of The Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails will also bring very special guest, Australian-born singer/songwriter/musician Brody Dalle along for the ride! Dalle will open the shows with a full band, playing a selection of songs from her extensive catalogue from her renowned punk rock bands The Distillers and Spinnerette and new songs from her fierce forthcoming solo album.

The relationship between these two rock powerhouse bands is no secret; they’ve played over thirty shows together in the United States in 2005 and have teamed up for several recordings together over the years, including an appearance by Reznor on ‘Kalopsia’ from Queens Of The Stone Age’s Like Clockwork.

It’s evident these two bands share a musical affinity and are prodigies of the live show. New Zealand, you had better secure your tickets because this is going to be one mammoth, mind blowing, live event of the year that you definitely don’t want to miss!

The smart money would have seen the 2-day gap BETWEEN the Auckland (19th) and Christchurch (22nd) shows, and [quite rightly] suspected that a Wellington show would be added later. Annoying, yes, for those punters (myself included) who bought tix to either of the other shows, but a canny move by the promoters. I think I'll stick with my Ch'ch tix - it's the last show of the tour, after all..

It was 2009 that Nine Inch Nails visited Auckland, ahead of their Soundwave appearances that year.

I have Chch tickets. This takes the piss and isn't the first time this has happened to me. Why the hell can't promoters here book a tour and advertise it properly. Dammit

So we got in quick and bought tickets to the Auckland show and now this? Surely an exchange is warranted here!

What a slap in the face to Wellington fans who got in on day one. Is there any chance of exchanging Auckland tickets for Wellington tickets?

Ok, cool, but that's annoying for those of us who already got tickets to the Auckland show. Do we get to exchange them for tickets to the Wellington show?

I have been keen on seeing NIN for years, despite not being enormously into their records. I have lots of stories like this.

Great for those in Wellington who couldn't afford to fly to either Christchurch or Auckland but a bit of a dick move for those of us from Wellington who prebooked through the fan club and have now forked out a couple hundred extra for flights and accommodation either north or south. Kinda putting the boot to both bands biggest fans in the country. Nice.
