Lead Up To Laneway: Cat Power 'Cherokee' Live At Glastonbury

Chan Marshall A.K.A Cat Power has always been a tormented artist who has struggled with personal demons, but between her actor ex-boyfriend leaving her to marry a supermodel, a subsequent throat and facial disease called angioedema that threatened not only her singing voice but her life, and the immense amount of pressure she was under to deliver a successful record (which she did by making the Billboard Top Ten, being the first in Matador Record's history to do so) in Sun, things have been pretty tough for her recently. However Sun is a survival record; one she describes as a "manifesto for personal power and fulfillment", and 'Cherokee', the first single she released from the album is a soaring example of that sentiment. Check out Cat Power performing 'Cherokee' at Glastonbury Festival last year in anticipation for her headline set at Laneway Festival next Monday.
