This weekend saw the eighth annual 95bFM Fancy New Bands take over the Kings Arms Tavern for an evening of performances from bushy-tailed bands to wrap up NZ Music Month. Saturday's event drew together acts from across the country including Invercargill-based shoegaze musician Shunkan and Race Banyon from Wellington's Kerosene Comic Book collective, who was joined on the billing by labelmate Totems. Also included in the lineup was fuzz-rock group Pals and 4:20 rap fanatics Heavy, alongside the Purple Pilgrims who are back in the country to record after developing their experimental pop sound in Hong Kong for the last few years.
