Weekly Round Up: Friday 31st October

Friday 31st October, 2014 2:35PM

This week in tour news we had Japanese noisegrind duo Sete Star Sept announcing two New Zealand shows for early November. And the shows keep stacking up for the new year, with Foo Fighters announcing they will be returning to these shores for two stadium-sized shows in February, with punk rockers Rise Against in tow. Grebo icons Jesus Jones will be heading this way for one Auckland show in March. And the striking sounds of Sharon Van Etten will also be ringing through four main centres in that same month. In Spore-related news, the organisers have added London DJ Mr Scruff and hip hop supergroup Deltron 3030 to the line-up for the February festival.

In release news, Wellington's Seth Frightening shared a somewhat-impromptu video for his single 'Bully' from his forthcoming album But We Love Our Brothers and Sisters, out soon via Sonorous Circle. Kerosene Comic Book affiliate and bedroom producer Totems casually dropped his EP The Dream Is Over on Wednesday, then went on to perform with Randa at the Critic's Choice Awards showcase, which they won. Nomadic dream-pop dup French For Rabbits have released their long-time-in-the-making debut album Spirits, which you can stream while you read our interview over here. Further abroad, Belle & Sebastian shared a distinctly disco-inspired single from their upcoming album Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance. And Fugazi let loose the first-ever recording of 'Merchandise', tracked back in 1988 and set to come out on their First Demos album next month.

This week's Caught Live is Mastodon performing 'The Motherload' on Letterman, with guitarist Brent Hinds donning his Halloween costume, which appears to be a frightful 1970s groover...
