Weekly Round Up: Friday 21st November
In this week's tour news, we were happy to announce that the latest incarnation of art rock act King Missile is coming to New Zealand for two shows in February. Texan guitar virtuoso Gary Clark Jr will be visiting the country in March for three performances. Folk-punk musician Frank Turner is returning with his band The Sleeping Souls for two shows in April. And the East Brunswick All Girls Choir will be playing a couple of New Zealand shows at the end of this month. We also have an exciting tour announcement lined up for Monday, see if you can guess who it is with a few clues.
In release news, New Zealand's first ever cartoon band The Emilys came out of the woodwork this week with a single called 'Play It Cool', which was released with an animated video. Palmy three-piece Gains unveiled a taster from their forthcoming album. Auckland trash outfit The Muscle shared a new EP called Little Muscles. A little further abroad, Soundgarden have unveiled a previously unreleased song called 'Kristi' ahead of the release of their rarities album. And New York noise makers A Place To Bury Strangers have unleashed shambolic new single 'Straight' from their upcoming album Transfixiation.
This week's Caught Live is Tune-yards giving a stellar performance of 'Real Thing' at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris...
