Weekly Round Up: Friday 5th December

Friday 5th December, 2014 12:48PM

In this week's tour news Auckland gets most of the spoils with elusive producer Slow Magic returning to the city in the new year for one performance. Long-standing prog-rockers Uriah Heep announced a one-off Auckland show for March. That same month, post-wave outfit Pseudo Echo are jumping the ditch to play a single show. Also in March, Conor Oberst will be heading over for one performance at The Powerstation. And Nas added an extra New Zealand date after selling out his two previously announced shows. In local tour news, Anthonie Tonnon has planned a extensive nationwide tour to coincide with the release of his new album Successor. The Tattletale Saints have also revealed a long list of dates for a tour of the country throughout summer. And Westfest 2015 has unveiled more acts and a bigger venue for the epic one-day event in March.

In release news, Wellington outfit The Digg shared the first psychedelic single from their upcoming album. Also coming out of the capital city, teenage producer Lontalius is making waves around the globe with his staggering single 'Light Shines Through Dust' from his forthcoming debut album. Mongo Skato unveiled his eight-track offering I Don't Give It, coming out through Canadian label 1080p. And turntable wizard Alphabethead (of the All Seeing Hand) has dropped an excellent beat tape titled Quartz Plumage, which features this excellent deconstruction of ODB's classic 'Shimmy Shimmy Ya'. Looking further abroad, dream pop duo Purity Ring from Canada unveiled a new single as a sign of a sophomore album in the works. And the ever-intriguing Lana Del Rey shared her song 'Big Eyes' penned for a forthcoming Tim Burton movie of the same name.

This week's Caught Live is guitar legend Johnny Marr (who is playing in New Zealand next February) covering Depeche Mode's 1993 cut 'I Feel You' in Canada...
