Weekly Round Up: Friday 13th March

Friday 13th March, 2015 3:02PM

As with last week, this past seven days has been fairly quiet for tour announcements. In terms of international visitors, 74-year-old godfather of dance Giorgio Moroder will be heading this way for one show later this month to get people moving at Auckland venue The Studio. And in local announcements, god bows to math have planned a healthy-sized tour of New Zealand (as well as the east coast of Australia) to support the release of their new album Brighter Futures which come out soon via Muzai, but you can preview over here.

In other release news, Auckland three-piece Civil Union let loose a foreboding track titled 'My Father Below' from their forthcoming album due out in May. Don McGlashan has shared the eponymous song from his self-reflective new solo album Lucky Stars that will be hitting the shelves in mid-April. Our neighbours from across the ditch, Tame Impala put out the impressive (and sprawling) track 'Let It Happen' as a taster of their as-yet-untitled third album. And British artist M.I.A dropped a new banger pretty much out of the blue and hinted at more material to come very soon. Woo!

This week's Caught Live would totally be John Campbell being surprised on-air last night by one of his musical heroes, Sharon Van Etten, who is currently in New Zealand on tour. The tear-jerking scene caught the hearts of online media Pitchfork and Jezebel, who ran stories about the "adorable" interaction. Due to 3News video restrictions, we can't share the clip below but head over here to watch. Marvellous.

So, our actual Caught Live is some fan-shot footage of The Courtneys playing a great set at the Kings Arms on Monday night as the last-minute guests for the Parquet Courts....
