Iconic Wellington live music Venue, Meow, will celebrate its 6th birthday this September. Meow has been a staple in the Wellington Music scene, hosting a range of jazz, blues, beats, alternative rockers and avant garde music since opening in 2009.

In 2013 & 2014 Meow has invested heavily in their facilities for live music, and has hosted the Wellington Jazz Festival, and sold out shows for International touring artists such as Ladi 6, Yumi Zouma, Peanut Butter Wolf, The Orb & BadBadNotGood.

The birthday party showcases local and national original live music, including Beach Pigs (AK), performing in Wellington for the first time since the release of their debut album “Grom Warfare” in June 2014. Local Rockabilly band D Burmester & the Blind will also perform on the recently rebuilt meow Live stage. The night will culminate with the incredible talents of Alphabethead, Wellington’s award winning live turntabalist.

There will be drink specials all night, from Parrotdog Brewery, and punters can win free tickets by colouring in the birthday poster and posting to the Meow Facebook page.

Damian Jones, Meow’s owner is keen to celebrate the birthday with the people of Wellington and is also excited about the future “.. after a rocky start and many ups and downs, I feel like Meow is hitting its straps, there will be more great music, and we are even launching a Meow brew..”, says Damian.

Meow, situated in the Edward St Precinct, is well known for its cosy surroundings, craft beer selection, Modern Bistro Menu, and wide range of Single Malt Whiskys.
