The Bats

The Bats have been recording a new album at The Sitting Room Studio with Ben Edwards. It's number 9 - it's due out later this year once the mixing and mastering has been completed. John Christoffels and Mikey Sommerfield joined the band with some haunting strings on a few of the darker songs and will be playing along with The Bats live at the Gallery.
Then it's off to Ak for The Others Way festival.

The Bats have long been Flying Nun’s quiet achievers. They’ve toured America six times, guested with Radiohead, REM and the Buzzcocks, had one of their songs on the soundtrack of a Kiera Knightly movie, charted in France, been on the cover of Billboard magazine and landed an NME Single of the Week (for “Made Up in Blue”).

Not long after The Bats released their acclaimed Free All The Monsters album, Flying Nun reissued the early classic Bats albums Daddy's Highway, Compiletely Bats (2xLP) and Law of Things (2xLP) all on vinyl. You can also get them all in a special combined bundle with a bonus Tote Bag from http://flyingout.co.nz/. Or if you prefer CD, there is a 3 CD set of all the albums (unless it's sold out .. which I suspect it may be). Lots of bonus material and previously unreleased tracks.
