Theo Presents: Raiza Biza, Bailey Wiley, Eno, Who Knows

Hamilton would be reason enough to give up on life. But when you’re coming via J-Berg via Rwanda, H-Town starts to look a little more like the sunset strip. Raiza’s music encapsulates parts of all of these places. One part philosopher, one part student. Something like a narrator. With a cadence like if Morgan Freeman could spit. Political, without the beret. Emotive without the manicured stubble. Dude may have even read a book at some stage in his life.

2015 saw Bailey relocate to Berlin for three months to start work on new material, and play a string of live shows, including performances with fellow Kiwi Noah Slee at Lollapalooza & Melt festivals, Berlin and regular underground sets. Berlin is where the roots for the ‘Still On My Mind’ EP were laid, and the first taste, Take It From Me, showcases this sound, courtesy of Berlin-based producer Ben Esser. The EP, recording between Berlin and at home in Auckland, is a true showcase of a star on the rise, and an artist who has put her own stamp on the neo-soul genre.

ENO x Dirty brings today back to when hip hop was good. No pretentious mimicking, no following of trends, just true beats married to clever words. One half of ENO x Dirty comes to Wellington as a supporting act for Bailey Wiley. Later, ENO will show you what’s good with a killer set of his own.
