About HDU from Dunedin
we continually try to explore hdu as landscape mapping as much as songwriting. only with sound can you make the monumental fleeting. Tristan Dingemans
HDU have constantly impressed live audiences with their art-damaged rock for seven year now, constantly gaining accolades from this country's musical experts and releasing two simply stunning albums and a handful of magical EP's along the way.
The rumblings from the deep south began in late 1995 with the Abstinence: Acrimony EO and was quickly followed up by the debut album Sum of the Few in 1996. Their first tour up and down the country opened the eyes and ears of music fans to the possibility of HDU's absolute beauty within their super-sonic guitar storm. An Auckland show teamed up with Bailterspace that year had to be seen to be believed.
They were just some horrible (and quite unnatractive) junkies from Dunedin who made guitar pedal noise. Seriously, they only got those gigs and stuff overseas by bullshitting people all the time.
