Lady Luck

About Lady Luck from Auckland

A lot of great things have emerged from the stale confines of the

schoolyard, and new to the list is Lady Luck, an up and coming New

Zealand band who all met in the late 90's at school before coming

together in August last year as Lady Luck.

Sonically Lady Luck are pure fun. The band's sound takes from an

extensive range of sources, seamlessly melding chalk and cheese into

something really quite distinct. It's a breath of fresh air to see a

band take a love of Colour Me Badd, Blondie, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys,

Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, The Rapture,

Fischerspooner, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Kills and turn it into foot

stomping, disco-laden rock'n'roll.

It seems that once an audience gets a taste of Lady Luck they keep

coming back for more. Lady Luck have sass. Attitude. Panache. Their live

show packs a driving disco back beat that'll have you dancing for sure.

It's been 12 months since their inception but they've come along way in

a short space of time with support gigs, tours, singles and headline

shows. Their single 'Disco Disco', (playing now) scaled the heights of

the New Zealand indie charts - resting itself at number one, and anyone

who's heard this decked out disco-rock gem will know what I'm talking

about.

Their reputation has spread beyond New Zealand, with the band opening

for The Roger Sisters, My Disco! and Holly Golightly in the past year.

Lady Luck are coming up fast and one would think won't be playing

bridesmaid for much longer.

Lady Luck have an infectious energy, and ache with that special, hard to

pinpoint and unnamable quality that you know will put their name in

pretty bright lights some day. The world still has to be conquered by

this young band but in the meantime catch them live - any chance you

get. You won't be disappointed.
