About Drift from Christchurch
Drift are a young and exciting new talent to hit the Christchurch music scene. The band’s
original members consist of Lydia Solvander (Lead vocals, piano and lyrics) and Ollie Law
(Lead guitar, and lyrics). With the combination of Lydia’s strong, melodic vocals, sixties
hippy image and Ollie’s grunge-rock look, they make an unusual but talented team.
Many hours of song writing and producing has resulted in their debut album ‘Water or Air’.
All the lyrics, instruments and arrangements have been done solely by the duo. Vocals,
keybords, guitars, bass and drums are arranged by both Ollie and Lydia, normally
produced by a five-piece band.
Drift has been working very hard in the studio, but have also had time to recruit the final
three band members to fulfill their touring commitment. Alec Harrison (Bass), Dylan Brown
(Guitar), Jason Beardsley (Drums) form the complete line up of Drift and have had
successful gigs at The ‘Wunderbar’ and ‘Al’s Bar’ to name a few.
