The O\'connors

About The O\'connors from Auckland

Amanda and Sean O’Connor, who are renowned for their beautiful harmony singing, and equally beautiful melodic and heartfelt songs, feature at Petone Fair this year at NZique (cnr Jacksons & Fitzherbert Streets) on Saturday 20th February between 1-3pm. Their performance from 1-2pm will be followed by a 'play-shop', an interactive & fun workshop based on their latest CD release, 'Waiata Mai'.

Sean is an accomplished guitarist and Amanda a brilliant flautist. Their songs range from gentle yet powerful ballads to upbeat and inspirational songs. They also include songs of social, spiritual and ecological conscience in their original repertoire. They have released 5 original CDs, one of Irish songs and “Waiata Mai – Maori Proverbs in Song”, with original music by Sean, sung with their children Acacia and Rosie who also write music, sing and play instruments.

Amanda and Sean are both New Zealanders of part Maori descent. They have lived in North and South America, performing and teaching extensively in both continents. They now live in Wellington, New Zealand where they play as a duo or in up to a six-piece band.

Sean and Amanda both lead InterPlay, a creative community building practice. Amanda uses music and InterPlay in settings including pre-school groups and with the intellectually disabled. Sean also leads Natural High, the Korokoro Community Choir.
