Glasseye And The Carnies

About Glasseye And The Carnies from Wellington

The band was first formed when bassist Gray Bidgood phoned up singer and guitarist Chris Gibb after an afternoon of dialling numbers at random. After a brief fist fight at Gray’s house the two discovered their common interest in music and became great friends. Initially touring as a screamo folk duo called The Velvet Abortions, their brief musical run was cut short when Chris expressed the view that “This shit is fucking stupid Gray. Seriously, dude.” After a long and tear filled night Gray eventually caved to Chris’s desire to make listenable music and consented to the addition of drummer Miles Caulder to the band. Miles proved a valuable addition to the band, lighting up practices in a way that Gray has since described as “Okay.” Unfortunately when it came time to play their debut gig Miles made the shocking revelation that he was wanted for murder and could not make a public appearance. After much apprehension Gray suddenly remembered an old friend of his, Chris Barry-Goss, with connections to organised crime. Upon being called up Chris agreed to “Make all that heat go away” on the condition that he be let into the band and that they change their name to one of his choosing. The band grudgingly accepted.
