About Pearl from Wellington
Wellington duo Pearl have notched up a host of impressive live performances since forming in 2003. Summer 2007 included support for Eric Clapton, Elton John, The Feelers and Th' Dudes. Pearl's previous live work has included performances at several major events throughout New Zealand, and supports for Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes, ex-pat Kiwis Fur Patrol and McLeod's Daughters star Lisa Chappell at her NZ album launch.
'No Ordinary Day' - Pearl's debut album was released throughout New Zealand in August 2006. It features twelve tracks of evocative pop that feels great to listen to.
All singles released to date have featured on NZ On Air Kiwi Hit Discs and have received radio airplay throughout New Zealand.
Pearl are Wellington songwriters Shelley Hirini and Lisa Nimmo. In 2002 they were introduced by a life coach who believed their shared passion for music would make for an enjoyable mutual friendship. In 2003 they formed Pearl, ditched their corporate career paths and began working together to make their childhood music dreams become a reality.
Within a few months Pearl had reached the finals of three major song writing and performance events - winning the Wellington 'FireWaters' competition in March 2003.
Multi-talented Wellington musician Chris Jones - Pearl's co-writer and executive producer - has worked with Lisa and Shelley to develop Pearl's unique sound.
