Eyes & Nines

Eyes & Nines

About Eyes & Nines from Auckland

Formed in April 2011, constiting of 5 individuals, each bringing different musical influences to the overall sound. Fans of the low tuned, heavy and chunky rhythms, but noticed an absence of melody to most bands that incorporated this style of playing. Eyes & Nines strive to create these heavy rhythms behind heavily upbeat melodies.

Shortly after the formation of the band, Eyes & Nines competed ...in the 2011 Auckland Smokefree Rockquest regional finals. The band came through with a successful result, receiving the 'People's Choice Award'. This put the band into the next round, of submitting a 15 minute live DVD, for consideration to qualify into the national finals. The band recorded their live DVD at Roundhead Studios. The DVD put the band into the top 20 in New Zealand and were also the number 1 metal band.

The band also entered the Rare Breed Records 'Mega Mosh' national student band search competion. They made it though to the top 10, then progressed to the top 3 after recieving over three times as many votes as the other bands. The winner of the band was chosen by a panel of judges including Chris Prenter from Ramrod Media & Darklight Corporation, Paul Martin from The Axe Attack, Devilskin & World War Four, Riccardo Ball from The Metal Bar & Just One Fix, Nate Trainor from Atwaters Musicworks & Fractured and Brazilian Band: Eminence. Eyes & Nines won the national competition.

Eyes & Nines have played many shows around Auckland playing with many, including Eminence, Darklight Corporation and many others.
