BURY ME LOW are an Auckland-based Alternative Celtic Rock band that release their debut single "We Put Out The Sun" on the Stone Winner Music Label on 11/11/2011.
Band members Francis McManemin (Lead Singer / Songwriter), Tim Palmer (Bass) and Sam Edgar (Drums) make up this tour-da-force trio that are being hailed as "possibly the most musically exciting band to come out of New Zealand in the last 10 years".
As BURY ME LOW prepare for the release of their debut album in early 2012 and first nationwide tour, their hauntingly powerful first single (and black & white video) for “We Put Out The Sun” has hit radio, Facebook and YouTube. On the strength of this first single alone, BURY ME LOW has found a fanbase in the UK, Australia, South America, Japan and South East-Asia.
BURY ME LOW’s sound sits comfortably between Neil Young, Fleet Foxes, Cat Stevens, early Led Zeppelin and Nick Drake, with the same Irish /Celtic charm of Mumford & Sons. For a band that are all in their early 20’s, their sound lays buried somewhere in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
“There is no denying that we are a musical oddity. Our music is real and organic, at a time when a lot of music is so over-produced. We are inspired by great folk/rock acts of the early 70’s” says bassist Tim Palmer. “We didn’t know if there was a place for us in the global music market. We just concentrated on making the best music possible”.
Perhaps it’s that quiet confidence that has led Bury Me Low to sign a virtually unheard of (in today's market) FIVE album deal with Stone Winner Music.
In recording their debut album, BURY ME LOW have kept the whole recording process intimate and organic using live drums, guitars and live vocal-takes, keeping the album's sense of urgency and immediateness.
"We had never heard anything like them” says Stone Winner CEO and President, Ervin Stone. "They somehow managed to get their CD in front of us. We played the first 20 seconds of the first song on that CD “The Wolf And The Moon” (a future single) before we got on the phone and called them in to play for us.
