Variously described as “Bargain basement dance-punk”, “Shoegaze meets extreme” and “with an out of time rhythm section…I suppressed the urge to unplug the power and tell the kids to stop making that awful racket!!” Christchurch based Tiger Tones aren’t too sure what they are either.

Since forming in early 2006 Tiger Tones have played regularly including shows on A Low Hum tours / camps, featured in articles in Real Groove and Rip it Up magazines, and were nominated for “Best Breakthrough Act” at the 2007 bNet awards. They have just released their first album on Pinacolada Records April 21st 2008.

The band have tastes and influences ranging from good pasta, Nintendo competitions and Robotussin to electronica, post punk, shoegaze and house. Tiger Tones are into funked up basslines, rhythmic guitar stabs, playing the drums like a giant fish, square waves and dancing with people to their own music. Well… at the moment anyway.
